Privacy policy
This policy explains what data ChampRival processes and why, under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018.
Who is the controller
ChampRival, Spain. Contact for any privacy matter: contacto.champrival@gmail.com.
What data is processed and why
- Nickname: you type it to play. It is stored in your browser so you do not have to repeat it and, in online games only, it is sent to the server and shown to your rival. On the server it lives only in memory while the room lasts: it is not saved in any database or log. We recommend not using your real name or any personal data.
- Progress and preferences: your Daily Champion progress and streak, language and sound setting are stored only in your browser (local storage). They never leave your device.
- Technical connection data: for the game to work, your IP address and technical connection data pass through the hosting service (Render), which may keep them in its operation and security logs. ChampRival does not use them for anything else or combine them with other data.
- Riot Games content: images and the names of champions and abilities are loaded directly from Riot's servers (Data Dragon), which will receive your IP address as with any website. Riot Games' privacy policy applies.
There are currently no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking or profiling: that is why no cookie banner is needed. If that changes, this policy would be updated and your consent requested where required.
Legal basis
Providing the game you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and free from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Recipients and third parties
- Hosting service (Render): hosts the website and the game server.
- Riot Games (Data Dragon): serves the images and the names of champions and abilities.
- Cloudflare: manages the domain name and its DNS; it does not receive the website traffic.
How long data is kept
An online room's data is erased from the server's memory when the game ends or after a period of inactivity. What is stored in your browser stays until you delete it (you can do so with the button in the Cookie policy). Hosting logs follow the provider's own policy.
International transfers
Some providers (hosting, Riot Games, Google) may be outside the European Economic Area. In that case they rely on safeguards recognised by the European Commission, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or objection by writing to contacto.champrival@gmail.com. Because ChampRival keeps no data that identifies you, it will often be unable to locate it without additional information. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or to the authority in your country.
Children
ChampRival does not ask anyone for personal data. In Spain, children under 14 cannot give consent on their own: if you are under 14, play with the permission and supervision of your parents or guardians, do not put personal data in your nickname and do not accept advertising cookies without their permission.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here. Last updated: 2 October 2026.
